Milwaukee Employment Career Counseling, Training & Job Placement Program

Milwaukee Careers Cooperative connects economically disadvantaged individuals to a variety of Southeastern Wisconsin employment opportunities. Our Milwaukee staffing agency offers employment services to establish job readiness through our career counseling and job training programs.

Preliminary Orientation and Job Screening

MCC helps job seekers become job ready by building necessary job skills. Our free job training program is offered Monday through Thursday starting at 8:30 am. Job training services include:

  • job orientation
  • education orientation
  • job readiness/soft skills training
  • application process
  • personal interviews

All interested job seekers must attend and participate in these free job training services. Following orientation, job seekers can then take the T.A.B.E. (Tests of Adult Basic Education) assessment. Those who are qualified to continue to the next step of the employment process are then placed according to experience and related skills into temp, temp to hire, and direct hire positions.

Job Skills Training and Career Counseling

MCC in partnership with Milwaukee Area Technical College provides an onsite learning center offering:

  • GED preparation
  • Pre-GED
  • Basic skills review
  • Computer skills
  • Typing skills
  • Transcription skills
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Ten key skills

MCC and MATC also provide on-site job training workshops to assist potential employees in obtaining necessary job skills.

Other employment subjects covered by MCC workshops are filling out applications, writing resumes, preparing for interviews, career assessment and exploration, or other topics needed to aide in employment, available on an as-need basis.

  • WISCareers, a web-based career information system designed to help individuals with career goals through personal assessment tools
  • Wisconsin's National Career Readiness Certificate - KeyTrain, a skills self assessment tool allowing an individual to build skills in Math, Reading Information and Locating Information to prepare for WorkKeys, the proctored test needed to obtain Certification.
