MEMBERSHIP
Milwaukee Careers Cooperative is member-owned by over 40 congregations of all faiths, and community service organizations. The member-owners create the vision for Milwaukee
Careers Cooperative; they work in partnership with the staff in finding ways to meet the needs of job-seekers.
There are three options for congregations and organizations to become involved:
1. To become a member-owner This entails a one-time membership fee of $2,500, or $500 a year for five years. Each congregation designates a representative and an alternate to act as a liaison between the Co-op and the congregation /organization. Representatives attend semi-annual membership meetings. At the annual membership meeting, the 10-member board is elected from current membership.
2. To financially sponsor a congregation/organization that does not have the resources for membership dues. Many central city congregations would like to become members, but lack the resources to do so. It is extremely important that the member-owners reflect the ethnic and ecumenical diversity of our community. To be effective, the membership must be a cross-section of the whole community in which we live.
3. To make a contribution to the “Scholarship Fund.” This is an alternative to a full sponsorship of a church. This “Scholarship Fund” was set up to assist central
city congregations in their membership dues. MCC’s current members contribute to this fund, as well as congregations and organizations that choose not to become members, but still wish to be a part of our mission.
