OVERVIEW
Milwaukee Careers Cooperative (MCC) is a non-profit employment agency that links economically disadvantaged job seekers to jobs.
MCC accomplishes its urban mission by:
- Creating positive employment behaviors and practices.
- Creating alliances with religious communities, business, government agencies, labor unions and community based organizations.
- Managing growth towards stable, self-sufficient operations that can achieve objectives.
POPULATIONS SERVED
The target group served by Milwaukee Careers Cooperative lives in the central city: 91.6% are low-income and 6.4% are low-moderate income individuals at risk of falling into the low-income category; 80% are male; 84.3% are African-American; 7.5% are Hispanic; 0.2% are Asian; 0.1% are Native Americans and 7.1% are Caucasian. About 15% of those recruited are from homeless shelters.
